Mr. Turner

Along with a fresh batch of students here at LHS, there are a variety of new teachers. Some of them are returning from retirement, transferring from another school, or they are here fresh out of college.

Justin Turner is new to LHS this year and in his second year of teaching. Turner graduated from LHS in 2005 and went on to the University of Charleston. Previously, he worked at LMS as a substitute teacher and West Test math tutor. Interestingly, he worked at WVOW Radio for eight years.

Turner owns a Golden Retriever named Rusty and enjoys watching and getting physically involved in sports; he enjoys tennis in his personal time. In fact, he coaches the Tennis Team here at LHS.

We asked Mr. Turner what he considered his greatest strength to be, to which he replied, “Being able to talk to people about anything.” This is definitely a good trait to possess when you are in the teaching profession.

Another question, which should interest his students, was if he had any goals for his students this year and what they were. His reply: “Yes. To learn, pass, and make productive citizens out of themselves.”

We wondered why he decided to go into the teaching profession. His answer: “Actually, I have a Business degree and there are no other jobs at this time. But I do like teaching.”

By now, if you are wondering, we did ask the question: What is your opinion of Logan High? Mr. Turner’s replied, “I am really enjoying being around students and staff. It’s my old high school. I like coming back.”

Mr. Turner appears to be an interesting and promising teacher that we hope to have for many years.

At this point, things are looking up for LHS. With our new teachers and new students, this is going to be a promising year!
