Note from the Editor: Swine Flu Rumors

Filed under: Kara,Matthew,Note from the Editor — The Here's How Staff @ 11:01 am

In light of the recent rumors about Swine Flu, I decided to go and speak to Mr. Lucas. He says that as of right now there are no intentions of closing the school. There are several students sick but what they have has not, at this time, been confirmed.

Hopes for the School Year: Mr. Lucas & Mrs. Hanlon

Filed under: Kara — The Here's How Staff @ 4:18 pm

I recently had the opportunity to interview Mr. Lucas and Mrs. Hanlon about the 2009-2010 school year. Both administrators hope to maintain AYP this year. Mr. Lucas hopes to see better attendance and the graduating class of 2010 to be able to meet the goals they have set for themselves. Mrs. Hanlon hopes proficiency levels on West Test II continue increasing and of course to see Logan High school students to have a successful school year. She would like to see students take more challenging classes in order to prepare them for post secondary learning. Both are also very happy about how the first two weeks of school have gone. Mr. Lucas is glad to see students coming to school and being in class on time; Mrs. Hanlon said that “We are lucky to have the best students in the state.” We also talked about the Safe School Plan developed by Mrs. Hanlon and Police Recorce Officer Adkins. Mr. Lucas says that his main concern is the safety of Logan High and this can only help us to achive that. He is excited to see the rest of the changes in effect. One change both administrators hope to see in the school this year is that, they want LHS to have a new roof by the end of the year. Mrs. Hanlon would also like to see bathrooms renovated. “Have a great year and good luck class of 2010″ says Mr. Lucas and Mrs. Hanlon.

FOR THE SENIORS

“Graduation is only a concept.  In real life, every day you graduate.  Graduation is a process that goes on  until the last day of your life.  If you can grasp that, you’ll make a difference.”  ~Arie Pencovici

Goodbye Autumn

Filed under: Articles from previous years,Kara — karabug @ 8:30 pm

I have been in journalism for two years now and it has definitely been a wonderful experience, but I do not think I could have ever made it through all this time without Autumn Grove. When I walked into this class after half the year had passed and everyone was already comfortable, she welcomed me in as if I had been there all along. She was absolutely great and anytime I needed her, she was right there by my side with an answer to any question I had.

It will be a very sad and difficult thing to have to watch her leave, but I have faith that she will have great success throughout life. Although she will be greatly missed next year and I’m not quite sure how I will make it without her, I wish her and all seniors the best of luck on their journey through life!

I Love You So Much Autumn!

Neighboring schools offer their condolences

Filed under: Articles from previous years,Kara — karabug @ 2:03 pm

The recent loss of Brittany Dentro has put our school in a very difficult place. Our friends at both Man High School and St. Joseph High School have offered their condolences by sending us beautiful flower arrangements and cards. The staff and students provided their thoughts and prayers to our school. We would like to thank them from the bottom of our hearts.
