Teacher Interview: Veronica Poe

The Here’s How staff would like to take the opportunity to give a welcome to Mrs. Veronica Poe!

Mrs. Poe lives with her husband Steven. Together, they have two young children, Chaston, 7, and Conner, 5. The family line doesn’t end there! She also has a dog named Roxie, and a hamster named Dempsey.

A graduate from WVU Technical College and Harts High School, she has taught health, art, and Title 1 Reading at Harts Middle and West Chapmanville. Also, she has previously worked in the Coal Industry and for I.B.M… When asked why she went into this profession she jokes, “For the money, of course!”

What is her opinion of our beloved Logan High? “Everyone is so nice and helpful.” Her goals for this school year are to be the best teacher she can be and expect the best her students can be.

She says her greatest strengths would be that she is very outgoing and she’s a fast learner. In her spare time, she loves being with her family and friends. When it comes to interests, Mrs. Poe is a fan of football, basketball, and traveling. She’s also not afraid to announce a favorite. “I love NASCAR, go Dale Jr.!”

We’re all hoping Mrs. Poe will enjoy her time spent teaching here and that she will return next year.

New Teacher: Mrs. Jean Kirk

I recently had the honor of interviewing one of our new teachers here at LHS, Mrs. Kirk. Her full name is Jean Kirk, and she is married to Joe Kirk; they have no children or pets. Mrs. Kirk is formally from Mclauren Elementary and has only been teaching for one year; she has only taught music and choir. Mrs. Kirk is a graduate from Greenbrier East High School and West Virginia University.

Mrs. Kirk decided to become a music teacher because she has always admired, studied, and enjoyed music and music class. Mrs. Kirk believes that her greatest strength is being a singer. She enjoys playing video games in her spare time. Due to a recent move, she is not in any clubs or organization as of right now . She hopes that this year her choir class will be able to put on a winter and spring performance. She also wants her theater class to put on a spring production. Besides teaching, Mrs. Kirk has been an usher, a janitor, waitress, and an assistant learning disorder teacher.
